The Erl's Disgrace

A Dyrwoodan erl, renowned as a hunter in her youth, was disappointed that her talents were nowhere to be found in her only son. Desperate to win his mother's approval, the son commissioned this arquebus to give him the edge he desperately needed. His new-found success changed the young man, and his drive to hunt and to kill became an obsession. When the 'mistake' with an unfortunate woodcutter occurred, the erl chose to banish her son to the Living Lands rather than suffer the disgrace of seeing him face the headsman's axe.
