The tree depicted on this simple but well-made round shield seems to be reaching towards the sky with grasping limbs while burrowing roots dig deeply into the ground. This symbol of regrowth and withstanding the endless march of the seasons is not an uncommon one, but the fervor with which its artist composed it has imbued the shield with a small measure of the great tree's vitality.
